Bauer Media to support audience’s social media safety
Bauer Media UK’s Managing Director Simon Kilby took to the Tuning In North stage at Manchester’s Stoller Hall yesterday, confirming Bauer’s commitment to supporting its audiences with the upcoming Where’s Your Head At? initiative.
The Radiocentre-organised event welcomed 200 media industry professionals from the North of England to hear about developments in the audio, media and advertising industries. Simon Kilby used the platform to once again call on the advertising industry to think twice about the impact growing social media ad spend is having on both the media industry and wider society. Simon said, “Our legacy in advertising has been built on supporting great, high-quality content – joyous radio, great TV, cinema and journalism… but we are at risk of eroding this legacy – instead, funding platforms that are increasingly linked with a growing mental health crisis.”
As the owner of highly trusted radio stations and magazine brands, Simon emphasised Bauer Media’s commitment to supporting audiences with “our Where’s Your Head? at campaign, which hopes to contribute to the lives of our listeners and the health of our industry, because we need to break these unhealthy social media habits.”
Talking about the upcoming Where’s Your Head At? campaign in his impassioned session, Simon said “I believe that this is something that we must do as a business. Firstly, because it is simply the right thing to do for our consumers as this is a challenge that everyone is struggling to navigate. There is also a sense for me that as a media owner we want to be on the right side of history in the media world too.”
Simon also joined industry leaders from some of Manchester’s biggest media agencies, for a panel on the future of digital audio. Simon discussed Bauer’s audio platform audioXi, with its AI-enabled opportunities that will build effective, addressable campaigns fuelled by first party data from Bauer audio and publishing brands.
More details on the Where’s Your Head At? initiative are to come soon – to be the first to find out more.
