A rallying call to ad-land and Audio crowned number 1 medium at Media360 2025

Bauer Media joined leaders from across the media and advertising sectors in Brighton this week, for Campaign’s prestigious Media360 event – which featured a keynote from Bauer Media UK’s Managing Director Simon Kilby and a victory in the famed ‘Media360 Challenge’.

Simon Kilby drew a large crowd for his powerful keynote about the perilous future both the advertising industry and wider society may face, if the sector doesn’t reflect on growing investment in social media.

“Last week, The Wall Street Journal revealed that Meta is battling an ‘Epidemic of Scams’ due to criminals flooding Instagram and Facebook with scams and fake ads. Which is just the latest story in a long line of Antitrust and data breaches” said Kilby. “The ad industry legacy has been built on trust –without trust, we have no platform to communicate our advertisers’ brands and products… this relationship we have built with audiences over decades, is at risk of collapsing.”

Bauer Media is committed to making a positive impact in this space, having launched a new Where’s Your Head At? initiative with mental health charity YoungMinds, to help people navigate the problematic world of social media. Simon said: “Right now if you turn on one of our stations, you’ll hear expert words of advice playing.”

Also speaking at the event was Bauer Media’s Laura O’Connor who competed in the famed ‘Media360 Challenge’ – bringing home a victory for audio. Pitched against speakers from TV, digital, Outdoor and gaming, Laura was asked to persuade a room of industry experts as to why audio is the medium best at collaborating. Armed with some Bauer broadcasting friends including Gok Wan, Harriet Scott, Ken Bruce and Marvin Humes, Laura made a victory worthy pitch.

“Audio is built on collaboration. From the deep understanding of our audiences to the performance enhancing impact we have on ad campaigns, to the partnerships that elevate everything we do.” Laura’s presentation won over the audience, with a resounding victory for audio.
